Bill Edlund is a founding partner of Palmetto Commercial Properties. He has over thirty years of experience in leasing, brokerage and development of commercial, industrial and investment real estate in the Southeast Region. A mechanical engineer by training he enjoyed a dynamic sixteen year career in sales and sales management for Westinghouse Electric Corporation and in Fairchild Semi-Conductor before he began a second career in commercial real estate in Charleston. Edlund’s foray into Charleston Commercial Real Estate started in 1980 at the Max Hill Company. He went in to serve as a principal at Disher, Hamrick and Myers before co-founding Palmetto Commercial Properties in 1996.
Leadership and education are core values for Edlund who led the integration of the Commercial Investment Properties Council (CIPC) into the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors. Most notably he was a key player in the establishment of CMLS. He completed extensive course work with the Institute of Real Estate Appraisers, the National Association of Office and Industrial Parks and the CCIM Institute. He received his CCIM designation in 1985. “I was one of the last presidents of the CIPC and it was exciting and rewarding to fold it into the Trident Association of Realtors and to be instrumental in creating the Charleston CMLS.”
Edlund is a Minnesota native and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in Chicago, Los Angeles, Huntsville, Alabama, Washington D.C and Rochester, NY before settling in his favorite city, Charleston, in 1980.
Edlund and his wife live on James Island. He is an avid golfer. He is also a lay reader and serves on his church’s Financial and Investment Committees.
